Sourcing Passive Components for Germany’s Appliance Makers from Hong Kong: 34 of 234 Stocked General Purpose Resistor Lines Have an Anti-Surge Twin, All at 5 Percent, None at 1 Percent

Passive components for Germany’s appliance makers, from Hong Kong, hit a tolerance wall on surge-rated resistors. We matched our 23 September 2026 stock list to Walsin’s export: 34 of 234 stocked general purpose resistor lines have an anti-surge twin on four fields, all at 5 percent. None of the 170 lines at 1 percent has one.

Venatech Limited, an authorised Walsin distributor in Hong Kong, holds the Walsin Technology (Walsin) chip resistor parametric exports: 137 files, 234,815 rows, 234,401 distinct part numbers. This post is for a purchasing or design engineer at a German white goods or appliance maker who wants to know what a Hong Kong source can put in writing. Every part number below is real and every count is ours. Where it states a development, it names the source, the document date and the day we fetched it (21 October 2026).

What have German appliance makers and their trade body published that touches a component buyer?

Two things, and neither names a component. BSH, as reported on 21 October 2025, will end washing machine production at Nauen by mid-2027 and oven and range hood production at Bretten by the first quarter of 2028, affecting about 1,400 employees; ZVEI puts its members’ 2024 appliance sales in Germany at 10.1 billion euro. Platforms are consolidating, and a consolidated platform is a bill of materials someone must re-validate.

The report gives the reason as “persistent market challenges and underutilised capacity” and says supply for the affected products moves to other European plants. It also says production, development, logistics and headquarters stay in Germany. We draw no conclusion about any company’s choice of supplier, we have no relationship with BSH, and nothing here implies that BSH buys Walsin parts. The trade body’s industry sheet carries 2024 figures: 6.2 billion euro of large appliances and 3.9 billion euro of small appliances among member sales, about 27,000 employees in Germany and over 8,000 of them in production. Its June 2026 electrical industry fact sheet shows new orders up 6.5 percent and real production up 0.1 percent for January to April 2026, across the whole electrical industry, with no appliance split.

Point What the source says Source date Match / mismatch
BSH production network Nauen washing machines end by mid-2027; Bretten ovens and range hoods end by Q1 2028; about 1,400 employees affected Evertiq, 21 October 2025 Mismatch with any component claim: no part, supplier or volume is named
Appliance industry size 10.1 billion euro member sales in Germany in 2024; about 27,000 employees ZVEI sheet, figures for 2024, page undated Match for context; mismatch with 2026: the figures are two years old
Electrical industry, early 2026 New orders up 6.5 percent, real production up 0.1 percent, January to April 2026 ZVEI fact sheet, June 2026 Mismatch: whole industry, not appliances

How many stocked Walsin resistor lines have an anti-surge twin?

34 of 234. We matched all 254 chip resistor lines in our stock list as at 23 September 2026 to the export after removing the embedded space that 39,576 Walsin resistor part numbers carry: 249 join, and 234 of those sit in the plain general purpose series. 34 have a twin in the anti-surge series on size, resistance, tolerance and TCR; every one of the 34 is at plus or minus 5 percent.

The reason is in the series. We parsed all 8,340 part numbers of the Thick Film Anti-Surge series: 2,780 at 5 percent, 2,780 at 10 percent and 2,780 at 20 percent, and none at 1 percent. It also starts at 0603, so 24 of our 60 stocked 5 percent lines, all 0402, have nothing to match. Two more 5 percent lines differ on TCR. We have not seen this counted anywhere: of 170 stocked lines at plus or minus 1 percent, the number with a same-tolerance anti-surge twin is 0.

Stocked line group Lines With an anti-surge twin Match / mismatch
General purpose, plus or minus 5 percent, 0603 to 2512 36 34 Match on four fields; two differ on TCR
General purpose, plus or minus 5 percent, 0402 24 0 Mismatch: the series has no 0402
General purpose, plus or minus 1 percent 170 0 Mismatch: the series has no 1 percent
Zero-ohm jumpers 4 0 Mismatch: no jumper in the series

By size the 34 split 18 at 0603, 6 at 0805, 9 at 1206 and 1 at 2512.

Which worked part numbers show the twin, and what differs?

Take the stocked 0603 line WR06X103JTL: 10,000 ohm, plus or minus 5 percent, 100 ppm, 1/10 W. Two anti-surge parts share size, value, tolerance and TCR with it, and they differ on rated power: WF06S103JTL stays at 1/10 W while WK06S103JTL is rated 1/4 W. The table puts them beside the cases that do not match. The last column is yours.

Walsin part Series as exported Size, value, tolerance, TCR, power Match / mismatch Your incumbent
WR06X103JTL General Purpose 0603, 10,000 ohm, 5%, 100 ppm, 1/10 W Reference line, stocked as at 23 September 2026
WF06S103JTL Anti-Surge Same five fields Match on five fields; mismatch on series
WK06S103JTL Anti-Surge Same four fields, 1/4 W Match on four fields; mismatch on rated power
WR25X330JTL General Purpose 2512, 33 ohm, 5%, 100 ppm, 1 W Reference line, stocked
WK25S330JTL Anti-Surge Same five fields Match on five fields; mismatch on series
WR04X103JTL General Purpose 0402, 10,000 ohm, 5%, 100 ppm, 1/16 W Reference line, stocked
WR06X1002FTL General Purpose 0603, 10,000 ohm, 1%, 100 ppm, 1/10 W Reference line, stocked

For the 0402 line there is no anti-surge part at all, and for the 1 percent 0603 line there is none at that tolerance. Our post on anti-surge against general purpose resistors compares the power ceilings by size.

What does a 1 percent line get instead?

An automotive-graded surge series with a different power rating. For WR06X1002FTL, the Triple Power Surge part MF06E1002FTL is rated 1/3 W and the Power Surge part MK06S1002FTL is rated 1/4 W; 155 of our 170 stocked 1 percent lines have such a twin on size, value, tolerance and TCR, and 0 of the 155 share the stocked line’s rated power.

Both series carry the word Automotive in the export. We hold no qualification report for any resistor series, and the word in a series name is not a qualification; ask for the qualification report for the exact part number. Our anti-surge chip resistor post explains the construction. The table shows what a 1 percent swap changes.

Walsin part Series as exported Fields Match / mismatch
WR08X1002FTL General Purpose, stocked 0805, 10,000 ohm, 1%, 100 ppm, 1/8 W Reference line
MF08E1002FTL Triple Power Surge (Automotive) Same four fields, 1/2 W Match on four fields; mismatch on power and series grade
MK08S1002FTL Power Surge (Automotive) Same four fields, 1/3 W Match on four fields; mismatch on power and series grade

What do our documents say about surge ratings?

Nothing for these series. Of the 28 Walsin datasheets we hold, 451 pages, only two cover resistors, the MR automotive sheet and the WR general purpose sheet, and neither covers a WK, WF, MF or MK part. The WR sheet is ASC_WR_V24, dated September 2016, ten years old.

So a pulse rating, a surge test condition or a rated working voltage for the anti-surge parts has to come from Walsin in writing, and it is on our request list. The export lists size, resistance, tolerance, TCR and rated power; it holds no pulse or surge field.

What will we not tell you about Germany?

Anything about German import, product regulation or appliance approval. We hold no office, entity or stock in Germany; our locations are Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Singapore and Jiangmen, with Chengdu in preparation. We state no duty rate, customs procedure, transit time or carrier, and no appliance safety or ecodesign requirement is in the documents we hold. Confirm with your compliance team.

How Venatech helps

We help with the cross-reference first. Paste a resistor line into the free cross-reference tool, which decodes 18 manufacturers’ part numbers across 800,000+ crossable parts and shows Walsin candidates with match and mismatch fields, or upload a whole list to the BOM checker, up to 500 part numbers. The Hong Kong ready-stock list is a dated snapshot, 23 September 2026, never live-synced. Walsin is the only line we are authorised for; Stackpole and Viking are lines we supply. We work from Hong Kong, in small lots, and you can request a quote through the site. We build tables like the ones above from our own export; the chip resistor range lists the families. ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 are not held by Venatech. Qualification stays with you.

The short version

For a German appliance resistor line, the tolerance field decides whether a surge-rated Walsin series is even in play. 34 of 234 stocked general purpose lines have an anti-surge twin, all at 5 percent, and none of the 170 lines at 1 percent has one; 155 of those 170 have an automotive-graded surge twin at a different rated power. We hold no datasheet for either family.

Send us one resistor line from an appliance control board and we will return the Walsin parts with the differences stated. If your drawing says 1 percent and surge-rated, which series did you intend?

Frequently asked questions

What have German appliance makers published that touches a component buyer?

BSH was reported on 21 October 2025 to end washing machine production at Nauen by mid-2027 and oven and hood production at Bretten by the first quarter of 2028, about 1,400 employees. No component is named. Consolidation means bills of materials get re-validated.

How many stocked Walsin resistor lines have an anti-surge twin?

34 of 234 stocked general purpose lines, as at 23 September 2026, on size, resistance, tolerance and TCR. All 34 are at plus or minus 5 percent. None of the 170 lines at plus or minus 1 percent has one, because the anti-surge series is listed at 5, 10 and 20 percent only.

Why do 24 stocked 5 percent lines have no anti-surge twin?

They are 0402 parts. The anti-surge series starts at 0603: its 8,340 part numbers sit at 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 2010 and 2512. Two more 5 percent lines differ on TCR. Check size before you check the series name.

What does a 1 percent line get instead of an anti-surge part?

An automotive-graded surge series at a different rated power. 155 of 170 stocked 1 percent lines have an MF or MK twin on four fields, and 0 share the stocked rated power. A series name is not a qualification; ask for the report for the exact part number.

Do your datasheets give a surge or pulse rating for these series?

No. We hold 28 Walsin datasheets, 451 pages, and two cover resistors: MR and WR. Neither covers a WK, WF, MF or MK part, and the export has no pulse field. A rating has to come from Walsin in writing; it is on our request list.

Do you state German import rules or appliance approvals?

No. We hold no German customs or appliance-approval content, and no office or stock in Germany. We give no legal or customs advice; confirm with your compliance team. We supply parts, lot and date-code traceability and, on request, a certificate of conformity per shipment.
